Facilitating and Inhibiting Factors in Deciding to Start Retreatment in Survivors of Breast Cancer Recurrence

Background: Cancer recurrence is an important care challenge for breast cancer survivors. It necessary to understand and identify the barriers facilitators that affect decision start retreatment by those facing compared factors affecting their initial treatment, which different. Objectives: This study part of a qualitative with grounded theory approach, was conducted explain facilitating inhibiting in survivors recurrence, using content analysis method. Methods: based on experiences 16 patients 2 oncologists confirm findings effective patients’ decisions one hospitals Tehran, Iran. The samples were selected, purposeful sampling method trying have maximum diversity. Data collected through in-depth semi-structured telephone interviews from November 2020 2021 analyzed, conventional following Elo Kyngas method, includes 3 phases, including preparation phase, organizing reporting phase. Credibility, transferability, dependability, confirmability, authenticity used determining trustworthiness data. Results: Both groups divided into 5 categories, individual factors, social family illness characteristics, treatment-related factors. Also, each category included sub-categories two treatment again. Conclusions: Based results present study, it increase awareness staff about possibility know influencing decision-making process retreatment. Nurses should play role advisors, educators, supporters this field.
